Coach Mario Hurley's passion for soccer began at an early age in his native country of Costa Rica, where he grew up playing the game and developing a deep understanding of the sport's technical and competitive aspects. Soccer has been a lifelong part of his journey, shaping both his playing and coaching philosophies.

After moving to Texas, Coach Hurley continued his soccer career at Guyer High School, where he played Varsity soccer and further developed his leadership and competitive experience on the field.

In 2018, Coach Hurley began his coaching career in the recreational leagues of the Lake Cities area. His teams quickly found success, not only through wins and championships but by creating a positive environment where players could develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.

Driven by a vision to provide local players with a higher level of development and competition, Coach Hurley founded Lions Futbol Club in 2023. Starting with a single boys team composed of players born in 2011, he built the program from the ground up with a focus on player development, discipline, teamwork, and competitive excellence.

Under Coach Hurley's leadership, the Lions FC 2011 Boys achieved remarkable success in the Plano Premier Invitational League (PPIL), earning promotion from Division 5 all the way to Division 1. Along the way, the team captured multiple local and out-of-town tournament championships while consistently competing against some of the strongest clubs in North Texas.

The club's growth and achievements reached a new milestone during the 2025-2026 season when the 2011 Boys team successfully qualified for the highly competitive Classic League, one of the premier youth soccer platforms in North Texas.

Today, Coach Hurley remains committed to helping young athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field. His mission is to develop technically skilled, confident, and competitive players while fostering a culture of hard work, respect, and passion for the game.
